Guest Post: Round of the new iPod’s for 2012
Apple has been busy this year with the new iPhone, iOS 6 and the great success of the iPad. However they have still had time to make a few new update to there iPod line their MP3 players that are still the most popular in the world. Although Apple’s iPod range are still the number one most sold MP3 players they still have to bring out next releases to stay ahead of the game and they have definitely managed that this time round. Let’s take a look at what they have done to update the models this time round:
iPod touch – The iPod touch has always mirrored the iPhone in it’s design however just being a little thinner and a little lighter just of course lacking the phone capability. Well this time is no different the iPod touch as you can see below is a thinner lighter version of the iPhone 5 with the magnificent 4inch screen and even the dramatically improved camera. The only major cosmetic different is that the iPod touch available in several colours as well as having a lanyard connector on the back of the device.
Under the hood the iPod once again saw some pretty bit improvements, with the A5 processor, an increase of RAM and a considerably battery improvement meaning this device has 40 hours of music playing battery life. The device is only available in 32GB and 64GB model, which are out now. Last years models are also still available at a slightly cheaper price.
iPod Nano – The iPod Nano has seen one of the biggest updates the device has received in a while Apple can never seem to make their mind up with this one the form factor has changed a lot over the last couple of year, however I think this is the most considerable change and the best one.
As you can see from the image above all they have done is turn the device into a very small iPhone, which can fit two rows of 3 circular icons on the touch screen and has a small iPhone style home button at the bottom of the device. I quite like the new look although I have heard a lot of mixed reviews. The device like the iPod touch is available is several colours, this one is also available in the in the product RED line so it is available in a nice little red model.
As for the inside of the Nano this one has an FM tuner as well as Bluetooth functionality, however Apple have a tendency of locking down the Bluetooth so I’m not sure how much you will be able to do with it.
The iPod shuffle didn’t see anything in the way of changes but I think that has the bottom end of the market wrapped up so Apple aren’t in a rush to change it. The other thing they have changed are the ear phones now named Earpods with the new name they also have a new design that is quite different and from all accounts very comfortable.
